With this tool you can examine the snow cover of your study area. Satellite images of Sentinel-2 data from Copernicus are used for the analysis. Due to this only images after the 23. June 2015 can be analyzed. The first step is to download the data. After download the images can be pre-processed to obtain an optimal result. Then the snow cover is detected. The result of the tool gives you a image with the marked snow cover within your study area. The image below shows you what the result will look like. In addition, a statistic is generated from which you can see the percentage of snow within your study area.

To perform the analysis, the first step is to draw a polygon over your study area on the map. Be careful not to make the study area too large to avoid long loading times. Also, only one polygon can be analyzed at a time. In the next step you have to enter the time period in which you want to know how the snow cover is. Here it is also important to select a small time period in order to avoid long loading times. After you have also selected the time span, click on submit to start the download. After that, you will be presented with your results under the result tab. With the Result button you will be redirected to the result folder. To perform the pre-processing and the calculation of the snow cover, download the NDSI python coder from the results page. Run it locally on your computer. The result can also be found in the results folder.
